We want to be a healthy and growing church, so that our neighbors can be reconciled with God – because God cares about us. That is our vision. And today, one quite practical but fundamental obstacle stands in its way: the place where we meet on Sundays.
A lot has been changing in our church in recent years. New people keep coming, and many of them first find us through the Sunday service. But that service currently takes place in a rented lecture hall, which we set up from scratch every Sunday and then completely tear down afterwards. It costs us more and more energy and money – and above all, it limits us. We can't stay longer than the schedule allows, we share the space with other events, and so our community never really develops the way it could.
And yet we have our own church building, where our life happens throughout the week – small groups, moms' meetups, youth, various ministries, music rehearsals, offices, baptisms, and a garden. It's a place full of life. But on Sunday morning, when the most new people come to us, we simply don't fit.
For our neighbors, this is also confusing: they see a building that is full all week long and then suddenly empty on Sunday. They don't understand it – and we don't blame them.
That's why we want to build a hall on our own property that will allow us to be together as a community in one place all week long. This is the heart of our decision: not comfort, but mission. We want as many people as possible to come to know Christ, and for that we need a space that won't hold us back but will open doors for us.
Prague 6, where we have served for 30 years, is one of the oldest and best-preserved districts of Prague – and that comes with strict building regulations meant to protect the character of the city. The district is also almost entirely built up with apartment buildings, so there is no open land where we could build from scratch.
We could look for a site farther from the center, but that would exclude the older generation, families with children, and those without a car. We want to stay where we are – because 30 years after our church was founded, there is still no other Czech evangelical church here, even though more than 120,000 people live in Prague 6.
The only way to stay on our own property while respecting the city's regulations is to build underground. That way we can also keep part of the garden, where we host many neighborhood events over the summer – and the building will remain open and usable all week long.
Our current building is already heavily used throughout the week, and we lack space for other kinds of gatherings and for different age groups. We have many families with children, and we want to serve moms, kids, and youth even more. The new hall will give us the room we need to do that.
This isn't just a construction project. It's an investment in making sure a community of people reconciled with God continues to be born and grow in Prague 6. We believe the new hall will allow us to serve more people, better, and with greater freedom – all week long, in one place that is truly our own.
Thank you for thinking this through with us and for considering how you might be part of this next chapter of our church.

Fundraising
A project of this size is a huge challenge for a congregation of 150 members. Still, we believe we should cover as much of the target amount as possible through our own sacrificial giving. Our goal is to raise half of the total from our own contributions. For the other half, we would like to ask for your help, if this project and vision matter to you.
